Another Mickey Model Sheet

Here's another model sheet of Mickey that I copy from in what seems to be my eternal quest to draw Mickey properly. Just can't do it. Maybe someday. I'll try and post more often but I've had little time to spare for blogging lately.

Mickey is REALLY hard to draw. One line out of place & it ruins the whole drawing.

I think Mickey falls into the same lines as Winnie the Pooh & the Peanuts characters: their structure & designs are so minimal & simple, & yet that's what makes them so difficult to draw.

Bloody impossible isn't it?! I gave up trying long ago. I've heard they are making a new Mickey short soon. I wonder how the artists at Disney ever get to grips with drawing him!

I had to draw Mickey for a contest. It took weeks of practicing, and lots of wrong drawings. Mickey is so simple, it's so easy for him to look wrong.

My favorite design is the perspective ears Mickey that was used on Little Whirlwind and a few others.

I haven't tried Mickey, yet.
But it's on my "to-do" list.

Mickey does get easier to draw with practice but alas, something always just dosen't look right.

so cool....i love old mickey drawings. I cannot wait to see 'Up'! It looks like it will be a fun, and emotional, film. I'm not sure when it's out in the UK, but probably not until the end of June at the earliest. thank you for shearing your post.
