Popeye - "The Paneless Window Washer"

Here's a clip from the 1937 Popeye short "The Paneless Window Washer". I'm sure most people who read this blog have seen this one as it's on a lot of the cheap public domain DVDs. I had to post it just for the part when Bluto temporarily dispenses with Popeye and turns to Olive and says "Now you want me to clean your windas? Huh!?!" and then proceeds to choke the shit out of her. What a businessman. Hilarious.

I'm certainly looking forward to seeing this, restored.

I grew up watching old prints of Fleischer Popeye through a bunch of TV snow back in the 70's-80's.

I could never understand most of the dialog.

"and then proceeds to choke the shit out of her."

Loved the way you phrased it. When I finally saw the scene made it even more funnier.

I can't wait to see restored versions of these shorts. I too would watch crappy prints of these on TV while getting ready for school when I was a kid. When I'd come home, channel 5 would show the Famous shorts.

Gemini82-You should see me when I watch that part. I can't stop laughing. The way he turns to her and yells is priceless. It gets me everytime. Who wouldn't want to choke the shit out of Olive?

Come now, let's not be crude!

How about, "Bluto squeezes the pimento out of Olive?"

Naw. Your way's better...

Nice new banner, BTW!

Woah! I actually was on the edge of my seat when Popeye looked like he was going to fall, because he really connects with the audience. The perspective was amazing and fit the story, not too show offy. Great beating at the end, too. The best animation I've seen in a while, and it makes me so envious to animate with that much skill. Thanks for uploading the clip and the Popeye model sheets, Kevin!
