Art Davis - "Odor Of The Day"
This is one of the very few Pepe Le Pew cartoons that I enjoy. Of course he's only really Pepe in that he's a skunk and stinky. Other than that he doesn't exhibit any of Pepe's personality traits. Thank god he's not trying to get laid in this one. That would've made for a pretty creepy cartoon. Oh, like Davis' other shorts there's some pretty cool camera angles and some of the gags are really well timed. Well, I think they are. Sorry for the lack of posts lately, for those who care, it's quite hectic around here during the holidays. So much to do. I'll be sure to post some Christmas themed cartoons over the next week.

One of the most underrated cartoons. This is the only Pepe short along with For Scent-imental Reasons and Really Scent which I actually like.
I like the sex-crazed Pepe. Pepe, Bluto, and Tex's Wolf are all unique in that they were the few cartoon characters allowed to have an honest-to-goodness male libido. The Pepe cartoons always had great secondary character designs and interesting backgrounds by DeGaurd and Noble. True, some of the cartoons of the late fifties had some pretty flat and limited animation, but I think these were some of the "cheaters" that Chuck did to buy time for his mor ambitious shorts.
I like Pepe a lot more than I used to. They have all those great Jones expressions and the [hilarious] fractured French. And hey, what's wrong with trying to get laid?
This cartoon is great too, with some nice Emery Hawkins animation.
Compared to the Davis Pepe, the Jones Pepe is really more about "art" than raw "entertainment", i.e. in a parallel universe to UPA, for better or worse.
Unequivocably, one of the funniest - albeit rare - looney tunes ever put out...a gem to be sure.
