I figured I'd post something with a Thanksgiving theme, so what better than a Tex Avery short. While "Jerky Turkey" might not be one of his best MGM shorts it's loaded with great gags. And who doesn't love a Jimmy Durante impersonation? So here's the short along with a couple of model sheets and animation drawings. Happy Thanksgiving.
Kevin, please pardon me for this irrelevant question, but ever since I've finished watching Seasons 1 & 2 of 'The Flintstones', I've been asking it to everyone, and I'd value the opinion of an animation expert. Whom do you find the more attractive, Betty Rubble or Wilma Flintstone? I personally prefer Wilma. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeletePS: You're the animation expert I was referring to, by the way!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the cartoon and the art. That line, "Some funny joke" really cracked me up. Not sure why, but it did.
ReplyDeleteps. Personally, I've kinda always had my eye on Dino
Let's not forget Fred's mother in law, Pearl Slaghoople. That's a whole lot of woman.
ReplyDeleteGreat cartoon! One of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kev, & Happy Thanksgiving to you & your family!
You'd be best served by refraining from posting any Pebbles and Bam-Bam until Jan tires of the blog.
ReplyDeleteI love the tear drop geometry of the pilgrim guy!
ReplyDeleteWhen I get home I'm gonna draw a bunch of teardrop people.
thanks for posting this!
I hadn't noticed it when I watched the cartoon, but the Pilgrim looks exactly like Hiawatha. Good find, Kevin.
ReplyDeleteI seem to recall the last half of this cartoon used in the late 1980's for a specially-produced music video that I seem to recall aired on TBS's "Night Tracks," I vaguely recall that the song might've been the Chicago soul classic "Rescue Me" by Fontella Bass but I'm not too sure. Would you or anyone else remember such use?
