Chuck Jones - "A Pest In The House"

Here's one of the truly great Daffy shorts directed by Chuck Jones.

  2. I was looking forward to seeing this on the LTCG VOL. 5 later this month, but I can't understand why this cartoon is a underated classic.

Although, even Daffy was acting like a jerk in this cartoon, the characters nuty personality at this time is far superior than the jackass he became in later years.

Their may be reasons, but why can't most of the directors realized that Daffy should be, well, that crazy darn old duck we had come to love?

Reguardless, this was a joy to watch, and thanks for posting this, Kevin.

i love this one. i love the odd choice of having arthur q. bryan (or whoever it was) doing voices for both elmer and his antagonist. mel blanc is out of this world here too...

i've told this story before and posted it over at bruce's also: i once asked Chuck Jones about this specific cartoon and he literally drew a blank. the more i described it, the more he swore it was by someone else. i guess he did so many i couldn't blame him for not remembering every single one...

    thanks for posting.

  5. woah, room 666?!

It's great how you can't quite tell for sure if Daffy is being obnoxious on purpose, or if he doesn't realize it.

  7. I totally forgot it was going to be on the next LTCG. As if I needed another reason to pick it up.

Will- It's amazing to me that he could not remember a cartoon as great as this one. You'd think he'd forget about Sniffles before gold like this.

  8. I remember this one! Hilarious cartoon. I think this cartoon has Mel Blanc's best Daffy dialogue, each line out of his mouth is a laugh riot.

I always felt bad for Elmer in this one, since he never did anything to Daffy or the Sleepy guy.

By the way, doesn't Elmer look like Jiminy Cricket in this cartoon, down to those two antennae-like hairs on his head?
