ReplyDeleteIt's kind of weak compared to "Jitterbug Follies". Still a great place for Spence, Hawkins, and Bill Littlejohn to strut their stuff.

(since your Jitterbug Follies post i've been dieing to see this cartoon)
Not amazing like Jitterbug Follies, but still lots of fun! Thanks for posting both, it's too bad Milt Gross didn't make any other cartoons
ReplyDeleteI have to agree it's not as great as "Jitterbug Follies" but that cartoon is pretty hard to top.
ReplyDeletethe first half of the cartoon kicks major ass in my opinion. hilarious body movements & poses. the dinner table gags were super funny too. however, when screwloose got to the ladies house is when i thought the cartoon slowed down
ReplyDeleteoverall i really liked the cartoon a lot. even though it wasnt quite up to jitterbug follies, it still kicked major ass. it's a big (and depressing) shame that Milt Gross didn't direct more cartoons.
Him and Clampett should have had an animation battle to out-crazy one another, that would have been tight
I'm really surprised that Cartoon Network didn't cut the blackface gag and even the chef out entirely. Anyone know if there's any cuts at all in this cartoon?
ReplyDeleteyeah i was really surprised about that as well. i couldnt believe they were showing it uncut on cartoon network. maybe it was part of ToonHeads or something so it was in special favor of being shown in its complete form
ReplyDeleteI think it aired on "Late Night Black and White" which is probably why no edits were made. Since the show aired at some ungodly hour like 2 am or something, there wasn't a likelyhood of the wee tots seeing something they shouldn't. (Or many adults for that matter.)
