Bruce Timm-Conan

I've been spending some time reading loads of old comics. Green Lantern and The Flash, some Justice League, but mostly, John Buscema's Conan and Silver Surfer. It reminded me of Cary Nord's run on Conan for Dark Horse and this really short story from Conan #18 drawn by Bruce Timm. I'd give my right nut, maybe even the left one too, for a Conan graphic novel by Timm. As long as no one else touches the art. Well, if Shane Glines inked it I'd have no problem with that. Oh well, one can dream.

Hey, what coincidence! I think many people would give your left/right nut(s) for a Timm comic!

Awesome blog!! Great posts and meaningful commentary. Truly a combination worth noting. If there were more people like you in the world, well, there'd be less people like me. Keep it up!

Haha, I'm willing to do that for the greater good. After 3 kids in 5 years I think they're about done anyway. Thanks for checkin' in Tal.

Thanks so much for posting this beautiful strip. I've been trying lately to track down a copy of this issue on eBay, to no avail. The girl's subtle changes of expression on page 3 are priceless!

Beautiful art. But not worth the nuts.

Beautiful artwork. The coloring was fantastic and I love the woman's subtle change of expressions. I would love to see a fully animated Conan feature based on this art style.

I loved Buscema's Conan as a kid (still do) but I'm with you on the Tim/Glines idea, too!

Amazing, I never knew BT did Conan comics.

Speaking of him, have you read the Batman Adventures comics Kevin ? They were actually better then either BT Batman show because the art was sharper and the content was more risque. If you haven't pick up a compilation book called Batman: Dangerous Dames and Demons, that includes the terrific Mad Love story.

I have "Dames and Demons", the Mad Love story is great. The Harley and Ivy mini series was good too. Timm also drew this story for Flinch comics that was really good. I forgot who wrote the story but it's not something you'd normally associate with BT. I'll have to scan that one and post it.

I believe Joe R. Lansdale wrote the Flinch story, and BT didn't want to do it. He relates the story in the 'Modern Masters' book :)

It's in the CONAN: THE BLOOD-STAINED CROWN trade paperback (along with other good stuff), in print and available via comics shops, Amazon and more.

Glad people enjoyed it; I love what Bruce did with the script.

Kurt, I just want to tell you that I loved the whole run of Conan that you worked on and that Cary Nord drew. Fantastic work!
