Here's a few Popeye model sheets from the Famous studio days. I really like the Famous Popeye's made in the 40's but the series definitely ran out of gas in the 50s. Anyone know if that's Tyer handling the scene in "Mess Production" when Olive punches in at the timeclock? Looks like it to me.
Interesting stuff, thanks for this, much like the others, I'm sure to use this as a reference. ;)
ReplyDeleteNever saw these before, but I dig 'em. I really liked how fun most of those 40s Popeyes were, especially when you had animation greats like Johnny Gent and Jim Tyer animating on those. Thanks a lot, Kevin.

ReplyDeleteIt's not Tyer. This isn't his (unit's) cartoon. Looks like Lou Zukor to me. Taras has some great animation here.
This cartoon is something like a merge of "A Dream Walking" and "Bridge Ahoy!".
Coincidentally, these two are also cartoons where Olive actually has breasts.
